


Its combined surface area is approximately 117,400 km². It is the second largest freshwater lake in the world. The two bodies of water are connected by the Straits of Mackinac and share the same water level. Lake Michigan-Huron is considered a single lake system in North America, although it is sometimes referred to as Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. It is located between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. With a surface area of around 371,000 km², the Caspian Sea far exceeds any other lake in terms of size. Although it is often considered a sea because of its size and salinity, it is technically classified as an endorheic lake. The largest lake in the world is the Caspian Sea.
